 Himachal Pradesh is perhaps the most popular summer holiday destination of India. With its lush valleys, fierce rocky ravines, flowering meadow watered by the rivers Chenab, Ravi, Beas and Sutlej that originate in the snow bastions of the Himalaya, Himachal Pradesh makes a fairy-tale destination. Its unique people, craft and culture make it an exotic place even to the people of nearby states. Lately intense initiatives by government as well as private bodies have made this state an ideal destination for mountain sports of all sorts. Himachal Pradesh is situated in the elevation range of 350 to 7000 meters in north-western Himalayas. Having large number of Budhist Monasteries in India, it also makes an important Budhist pilgrimage.
Most of the Himachal Pradesh is unexplored and virgin from tourist point of view, though important places are well connected by road network. There is regular bus service between important places inside the state. However, having a private car is a better choice for the travelers who wish to tour more than one place of Himachal Pradesh. Outwardly Himachal Pradesh is connected by regular bus service, train and air services with Delhi.
All large and small towns of Himachal Pradesh offer variety of accommodations in hotels HPTDC guesthouses and resorts. Low cost accommodation is abundant but prior booking is necessary to secure good quality accommodation.
